INDW 219-all out (48.4 Ovs)

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Anya Shrubsole
PLAYER OF THE SERIES
Tammy Beaumont

Mark the date. Not quite the 1983 result, but it has taken 34 years for the women to arrive. The English women once again do what their men haven't been able to..win and win at home. New Zealand it is now, four years down. Here's hoping you enjoyed the coverage just as much we did in bringing it to you. I am Vineet Anantharaman signing off along with Pratyush Sinha,Abhishek Chaudhary and Praveen. Ta ta!!
A hark back: Bharath Ramaraj stories how it took one visionary cricketer - Rachael Heyhoe-Flint - and a magnanimous entrepreneur - Jack Hayward - to unlock the door and take the women's game to never-seen-before heights
Match report: Ganesh Chandrasekaran reports on how England sparked an Indian collapse en route to title win
"Overjoyed to see the progress India's women have made" - Harsha Bhogle

Now the trophy. The jumps. The yells. The confetti. The fireworks. The champagne. They know how the trophy feels, and they feel it all over again. Now the Champions board as well comes out. They know how to celebrate, and are happy to show all those who care all over again. From a moment of total strangers to becoming a household name - the last one month has taught us a lot. A parting thought out to Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, two warriors, who cannot part with the crown. Like true blue soldiers, they've set it up for generations and generations to come.
Heather Knight: I can't stop smiling at the moment. We've won those tight games which is something we've worked on in the last 18 months. We've worked on situations where the heat is on us and looked to come up on top. They (India) were batting brilliantly, credit to them, they've had a great tournament. But we knew that if we stayed on till the end and brought the rate up over five or six an over, we would be in the game. A huge thank you to the crowds as well for coming up in large numbers and supporting us. Women's cricket keeps growing from strength to strength and all teams have shown that. The tournament has been outstanding, England is a perfect place to be hosting this tournament given the stage at which we are now.
Now time for the winning medallions. A contrast of a spring in the step as they run up on stage, beaming. And why not
Mithali Raj: It wasn't easy for England but credit to them for holding their nerve. They did well in those crunch moments which turned the game. I want to tell my girls that I am very proud of them. They didn't make it easy for any of the teams. I would also like to thank the crowds for coming up in large numbers to support women's cricket. Jhulan is a class bowler, she has shown it a number of times. The batting was a little inexperienced and they couldn't hold their nerve in the end overs. I am sure this experience will help the batters. I do see myself playing for a couple of years but I don't see myself playing another world cup. Jhulan has had an excellent career, very long and inspirational for young cricketers. I am sure people at home would now look up to women cricketers.
Alphabetical order arrangement now as the Indians come up to the podium to collect their respective medallions. A massive cheer as they march up. Chin up girls..
Tammy Beaumont, Player of the Tournament: After the first three games, I had to be reminded that I have been doing well over the last one year. So many of the girls stood up and it has been a real team performance right through the tournament. Lauren got us off to a pretty good start but we didn't quite do ourselves any favours with the middle order collapse. The bowlers, Shrubsole and Brunt, then stepped up. In my head, defending the total was never in doubt. But credit to the way the Indians batted. We came to Lord's in April, a lot of hard work went into our preparations and it is a great moment.
Anya Shrubsole, Player of the Match: I am at a loss of words at the moment. An amazing performance from everyone, we could have easily given up. We know the pressure that comes with the World Cup finals with and that came to help us today. The crowd have been absolutely amazing. I haven't played a game earlier where you cannot hear anyone on the field. We always knew that the team has shown a lot of fight, we were at a stage where we could have been out as well, but this team knows how to fight.
Medallions now. First the umpires and a healthy gathering of officials out there.
Hartley: "Cannot believe it. This is what we have been working for. For me, it was just another cricket game. Shrubsole, well, what a hero!"
Winfield: "Proper team performance got us over the line. We had plans, we stuck to it. Every time we got wickets, we said let's stick to it. Sounds amazing"
Sarah: "Quite a comeback. Bit of a fight in there. It's been a roller-coaster year for most of the team. I got back to training to see how it goes (after my break)"
Robinson (England coach): "India played really well. It's always about getting that one wicket, and then you get two and three. Slower bowlers were always going to be hard to get away. This team has a lot of heart and courage. Incredibly mapped by ICC (this tournament)"
Beaumont: "Bowled well today, but Anya was just outstanding to bowl that way. In a World Cup final, every run is important. We just stuck there."
Anya Shrubsole - you superstar. She held her nerve as India looked to take things deep, when things were falling all apart. Not once did she succumb, not once did she let go. With the match turning on its head every ball, she nailed the yorkers at the right time to hold the drift firmly in one direction. It never deserved to get this close, given the reputation and form Harmanpreet came in with, the way Veda was striking the ball and Punam having a truck of ice inside her cranium. Wasn't to be. Despite getting at least 20 below what they'd be comfortable with, the fielding was enough to earn the deficit. A prolonged talk show coming your way..interviews, sermons and emotions..hang on..
Magic. Absolute magic. It is an asteroid that has touched down, a yo-yo of an asteroid. Swung either way, every minute, every over, and it ends with a home run. Tears all around, happy, sad, broken, ecstatic. There really couldn't have been a better script..there really couldn't. The Lord's explodes, with the sound of a billion hearts back in India. If the semi-finals had my nails stolen, this one has my fingers. Bring out the blue paint. Dark blue. Lord's is getting coloured.
